Tangnuri Students Visit Our Elders
Tangnuri students’ «Visiting Our Elders» memories
Today we set off early to make the visit we had been eagerly awaiting for weeks. Successful people with beautiful souls, who have made striving until the very last moments of their lives their guiding principle, have always been our role models and a source of fascination for us. Today, too, we were going to visit just such a precious master. At 11 in the morning, carrying the traditional pastries and tea we had lovingly prepared ourselves, we visited our hardworking master, the painter Mr. Orhan Dayal, in his warm and welcoming studio in a modest building in Sultanahmet, where he strives with all his heart to make the world more beautiful. The moment we stepped into the studio, a warmth enveloped us as if we had come to our own grandfather’s home. We admired the paintings, calligraphy and ornamental works lining the studio, each more beautiful than the last. We chatted with Master Orhan over tea. He told us about his 74 years of life experience and about the aesthetic impact and importance of fine arts for the world and for people. Listening with our full attention, we did not even notice how the time flew by. In the final moments of the visit, the melancholy tune he played on his instrument made us feel once again the beauty of the world, of life and of childhood. We parted reluctantly, promising the master that we would come to visit again soon. On the way back, our path led us to Gülhane Park. The indescribably beautiful autumn scenery was just as lovely as Master Orhan’s paintings. After spending joyful moments in the park with the autumn sun, the golden leaves, and people of every race who had come from all corners of the world, we brought this unforgettable visit to a close. May our Lord lead us to even more beautiful visits, amen.
